Royal Prep Friday

Royal Prep Princess Camp

Friday - The Royal Ball

Welcome and Coloring Pages - Me as a Princess

Today's coloring page was a little different - Me as a Princess! I cut the girls heads off a picture and glued it to the paper. Ha!   I asked the girls their favorite part of Royal Prep camp.

Craft Project - Princess Fan

Time for our last project of the week! I had gone through a few different ideas for these fans - and wound up using the supplies I had left over to make them. I cut a paper plate in half and covered it with pink tissue paper. I hot glued the remaining pink stones from those magic wands in the middle and then I covered popsicle sticks with purple ribbon. I gave the girls 2 sets of jewel stickers I found at target and they decorated the fans however they wanted.

Princess Game - Scavenger Hunt

Our first game of the Ball was a Princess Scavenger Hunt. There were 7 girls so I had 7 clues.  I wrote the numbers 1-7 on pieces of paper, folded them up and put them in a bowl and had the girls choose a number. They each received a coloring page of the princess that I assigned to that number. While they colored I hid the clues around the house.

I used toys and things we had around the house to go along with each clue for the princess.

1. Tiana - lips (for kissing the frog) hid in the basement
2. Snow White - apple hid in the fridge
3. Rapunzel - hairbrush hid in the bathroom
4. Belle - rose hid in the dining room
5. Aurora - unicorn pillow (pet) hid in the girls' bedroom
6. Cinderella - "glass slipper" hid outside on front lawn
7. Sofia - amulet hid outside on back porch

Once I was ready we gathered in the family room and I read our first clue. I explained that ONLY the princess who had that number could solve the clue and find it.  We all walked together to find each clue and then once it was found we came back the family room so I could read the next princess's clue. The girls LOVED walking around the house and cheered for their friends when they found their clues. This was definitely a huge hit!

Here is a pic collage of each clue:

Princess Game - Pin the Princess on the Castle

Next we went down in the play room to play Pin the Princess on the Castle with the princesses they colored and glittered yesterday.  I taped a cut out of Sofia on to the castle by the door - the closest to Sofia wins!

Princess Freeze Dance and Snack Time

What is a Royal Ball without dancing? I put music on and the girls had a dance party! We also played Freeze Dance and then had a snack.

Princess Game - Pin the Horn on the Unicorn

Back upstairs for a quick game of Pin the Horn on the Unicorn. This was a big hit and also cute because it was mentioned in the Royal Slumber Party we read earlier in the week.

Royal Prep Princess Camp Graduation

Before the party was over I gathered the girls and presented them each with a Royal Prep Certificate for completing Princess Camp.  They are official princesses!!!

I could not have asked for a sweeter group of girls and such a fun week.  My girls and I are looking forward to our next week of Royal Prep!

Thursday - Perfect Tea Party

Welcome Coloring Page - Tea Party Friend

While the girls colored their Tea Party picture I had them each introduce the friend they brought for the day!

Here is Princess Maeve introducing her caterpillar "C-Pill" and she loves to balance him on her head!

Craft Project - Tea Cups

Our first project of the day was a "tea cup" - which was really a coffee mug! I found these mugs at Michael's that came with permanent markers for decoration - for $1! I couldn't pass that up. I really did want to use regular tea cups but I would have had to bake the cups in the oven to set the markers and this just seemed like a quicker, easier way to go. I am glad I did because the girls did not say a thing about the mugs not being tea cups. Phew!

I monogrammed each mug with the girls' first initials and let them draw on them however they wanted. They came out really sweet! If and when I do this again I think I will also have them decorate a small plate to go along with their mug.

Craft Project - Tea Hats

Next I had the girls make proper hats for their tea party! This was a craft I had done with the girls at Easter I found on Pinterest (Tea Party Hat). I used small white paper bowls, white paper plates and fake flowers all from the Dollar Tree. I popped the flowers off the stems, pushed them through the paper bowl and added a little hot glue to make sure they stayed. Then I gave the girls a bowl filled with rolled up colored tissue paper and some glue for them to decorate their hats any way they wanted. I really loved seeing all of the girls use the exact same supplies each project and all come up with different things. I had extra tulle left over from the canvas bags so I punched 2 holes in the paper plates and added the tulle so I could tie the hats on to the girls.

Here is the group with their hats and friends before we went downstairs for the tea party. I also used the tulle to give their friend something special before the party. I made bow ties, hair ties, a tutu and a veil!

It's Tea Time!

Have I mentioned how hot it was this week? Like 97 degrees at 8 am hot. So instead of having the tea party outside as originally planned I decided to set it up down in our basement/play room. The girls had asked all week if they could go down there and I am glad I put it off til Thursday because it made it special for them.  I let them go down and play while I set up our tea (pink lemonade or water) and snack (pretzels and cookies).  I put on the Disney Sing Along Songs DVD Princess Tea Party and the girls loved it, and I loved hearing them sing along to all of the songs. This is how I found them when I came down to set up. Too cute!

Even our stuffed friends got in on the fun!

While we sat and drank our tea and ate our snacks I asked the girls some "Tea Party Questions" I printed from DisneyJunior.com.

Story Time

We were running short on time so we came upstairs and I read Sofia The First: The Perfect Tea Party. This is a sweet story about Sofia hosting her first tea party  at the palace and it's message is to think for yourself, even if your ideas may be different.

Since we had already had our snack I let the girls color in these "Decorate Your Own Tea Set" pages. We all agreed that our tea party was perfect!

Before we wrapped up I gave the girls a Princess page to color in and gave them each a folded coffee filter (tutu) to decorate with glitter glue and a paint brush (Link Here).  I wanted them finished today because I planned on using them as "game pieces" for the Pin the Princess on the Castle game tomorrow. I cut them out once they were dry and kept them for Friday.

Time to go home! I packed the girls bags with their projects while they finished coloring and I included a note about tomorrow's Royal Ball! The girls were so excited!!

Wednesday - Sorcery Class

Welcome - Coloring Page - Magic Wand & My Pet Unicorn

If I had a magic wand I would wish for...

This is my magical pet unicorn. It's name is...

Craft Project - Magic Hat

Before we could start magic class we had to make our sorcerer's hats! I bought a package of shiny party hats at Target (Spritz 8 count for $2) and I personalized each one and gave the girls foam star stickers and jewel stickers for decorations.

Next up the girls received their magic wands for their magic spells. I used the ones I bought at the dollar tree (Dollar Tree Magic Wands) with the blue stones - the pink stones are used later in the week for another project. I gave them each a cape (Dollar Tree purple table cloth cut into large triangles) and they were all set for their first magic spell!

Magic Spell - Mutato Rubio!!

Have you ever seen the HBO show called Kindergarten? It is a reality show that follows a Kindergarten class through the year. It is one of our favorite shows, if you have a preschooler or Kindergartner definitely check it out! In the first episode the teacher hands out a ball of white play-doh and tells the students to smoosh the ball up and if it changes color they will have a great school year. The kids' faces light up as they see a burst of color and are excited for the  year ahead. So sweet! I knew this would be perfect for our first magic spell: Mutato Rubio! In the Sofia episode Cedric's Apprentice, Sofia learns the spell Mutato Rubio and successfully turns a rock into a ruby.

I covered balls of red and blue play-doh with white play-doh. The girls took turns doing their magic spells - I wanted to make a big deal of each one that turned the " white stone" into a jewel. And I also wanted to be able to snap pix along the way!

Princess Cate's Mutato Rubio Spell with her wand!

Time to smoosh!

The magic spell worked! All of the princesses cheered for their friends! Adorable.

Finished products:

I have to say this was my favorite part of the entire week. The girls were SO excited when they saw their stones change. It truly was magical. Yay!

Magic Spell - Presto Change-o!!

I gave the girls a choice - to do another magic spell or to do snack and story time. An overwhelming response: MAGIC SPELL!!! So off to the porch we went where I had the second "spell" set up. In retrospect I would have done this spell first because it almost seemed like a let down after the play-doh spell. Live and learn :)

Outside I had set up watercolor paints, bowls of water and "magic" paper with invisible princess messages written on them. I used water color paper and colored on it with white crayon - once the girls painted on them with the water color paint, the messages and pictures would appear. I got this idea from pinterest here: Crayon & Watercolor Messages. I have since seen it used with lemon juice - I might try that next time. The paints worked, but wasn't the best. Still cute though! Here are the girls saying "Presto Change-o" on their papers before painting. I can't find our finished products for this project but once I do I will upload them. Check out the link above to see how they come out!

Snack and Story Time

After the magic spell the girls played out on the porch and came inside for snack and story time. Today's story was Sofia Makes A Friend, a very cute story about a unicorn named Pearl who comes to stay at the palace and makes a mess of everything! But Sofia learns that a princess always tries to make her guests feel at home.

Circle Time and Princess Lesson

The lesson for today was Magic Words. "Thank you, You're Welcome, Excuse Me and Please!" We talked about good manners and the importance of always using magic words. They are magic because have the power to influence grown ups! We practiced using them in different scenarios.

Craft Project - Magic Potions

Our final project of the day was making magic potions. Last Christmas we made snow globes with this same technique, but this time I used ALOT more glitter! Each received a travel shampoo bottle (99 cent store purchase 3 in a pack) filled with equal parts water and corn syrup.

I gave the girls two small packs of glitter and a handful of teeny tiny pink beads from Dollar Tree (Glitter 4 Pack and Pink Beads).

I hot glued the caps closed just to be safe! They came out very cool. The girls loved shaking them up and watching the glitter and beads float around.

This was a great end to our magical day! The girls were so excited to bring home their magic spells to show their moms and dads. All of the projects went home and I included a note about tomorrow asking the girls to bring in their favorite stuffed animal or doll as their guest for the tea party.
