Royal Prep Monday

Royal Prep Princess Camp

Monday - We're Finding Out What Being Royal's All About

Welcome - Coloring Page - In My Castle

Each morning started with a princess themed coloring page. It was a great way to get them settled and ready for the day's activities.

They colored their dream castle and told me who lived in their "castle" at home. No surprise, the girls were very specific! Here is Cate's castle: In my castle...Mommy, Daddy, Maeve, Super Why and Cheetos live there. Super Why and Cheetos are our pet fish. :)

Craft Project - Crown

Our first project was a royal crown!  Each princess received a foam glittery tiara to decorate with foam sticker letters for their name and a pack of jewel stickers (all purchased at Michael's). I had mine completed for an example:

Circle Time

Not all of the girls knew each other so once the crowns were completed we sat for circle time and learned about one another.  We sang "Every princess has a name, has a name, has a name. Some are different, some the same, tell me what is your name?" (sung to the tune of London Bridge is falling down). Everyone took a turn saying their name (ie: Princess Cate). We also played a game we call Favorites.  "Let's play favorites, let's play favorites, let's play favorites, what's your FAVORITE...then I call out a category and every one takes a turn saying their favorite. I asked their favorite color, favorite princess and favorite animal. It was really fun for the girls to get to know each other. They loved it!

Playtime on Porch

I moved all of our princess toys out on to our porch and the girls played there while I transitioned to snack and story time.

Snack and Story Time

Today's story was of course, Sofia the First!  I was worried the girls would be bored with the story because I was pretty sure they had all read the book and seen the Sofia movie 100 times but they were totally in to it. Yay!

The girls had pretzels and their choice of apple juice or water in their crazy straw cups. I wanted to keep it simple and easy.

Craft Project - Amulet of Avalor

The second project of the day was making an amulet. The girls were so excited for this!! I set out purple, silver and white beads and cord for the necklaces. I scored these Magic Wands at the dollar tree, really cool because each came with 3 plastic jewels. I grabbed the purple ones for the amulets. So perfect! I attached a little loop of purple ribbon with hot glue to the purple "stone" and looped that on to the necklace when the girls were finished with their beading. I played the Sofia the First soundtrack as the girls worked. It was so cute to hear them sing along to the songs as they worked on their necklaces.

Princess Lesson - Royal Wave and Curtsy

Today's princess lesson was learning Greetings and Introductions. We discussed always saying hello and goodbye especially to adults. We practiced royal waves and how to curtsy.

Time to go home! It was a very successful first day of princess camp.  The girls brought home their projects from the day in their princess bags inspired by this post I found on Pinterest (Here).

I put a note in to the moms to let them know tomorrow we would be painting and to make sure the bags came back with the tiaras and amulets.
