Royal Prep Princess Camp
Welcome - Coloring Page - Mirror, Mirror
Today the girls colored a Magic Mirror upon arrival and getting settled. They took turns saying Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? Most of them said their own names, others chose Sofia and Snow White.
Craft Project - Amulet Jewelry Box
Since Sofia the First never takes off her amulet and I told the girls that they had to take them off (ha!), we painted a special jewelry box to hold them. I purchased the boxes and purple paints at Michael's. I gave each of the girls a personalized apron to use as a smock to make sure they didn't ruin any of their clothes. The purple aprons were from the dollar tree and I covered them with glittery felt and stickers.
I set up the paint out on the porch.
They came out great! Once the girls were finished they played out with the toys on the porch while I set up snack and story time inside in the AC.
Snack and Story Time
Today's story was Sofia the First Royal Slumber Party.
The story retells the Royal Sleepover episode and is a great way to show the girls to be considerate to others. The book concludes with a lesson: A true princess treats people with kindness. We talked about friendship and what it means to be kind. I told the girls that a princess always wears an invisible crown to remind herself to be nice.
Craft Project - Magic Mirrors
I bought these pink glittery mirrors at the 99 cent store. They were perfect for this project! I gave the girls the foam and jewel stickers for decorations and I wrote on the back of each mirror: Always Wear Your Invisible Crown. On the front of the mirror I put one crown sticker at the top center so when the girls looked in to the mirror it looked like the mirror was on top of her head.
Circle Time and Princess Lesson
Today we sang the Hello song. Hello "Name", Hello "name", hello "name" it's so nice to say hello. Hi Princess "Name". We were running short on time so we moved right in to our princess lesson of the day which was the Waltz! The girls were so excited to learn to dance, they each partnered up and one group had 3. It was so sweet to see them pair up and realize on their own that one princess didn't have a partner. The 2 girls quickly asked her to join their group. It was so sweet, especially since we had talked so much about being kind today. Yay!
I put on some music and they waltzed until it was time to go home. The jewelry boxes had dried so they were able to take them home along with their coloring pages and magic mirrors in their bags. I think they would have waltzed all day. I sent a quick note home reminding them to bring back their bags in the morning with their crowns and amulets. Another successful day of royalty!
